Premier Anna Bligh Opens New CBD Suites
July 2009
With one in four executives retiring prematurely as a result of ill health, Wesley Corporate Health's recent expansion into the Brisbane CBD is timely.
The new suites, officially opened on 30 June by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh, cater for the health needs of busy professionals in one central location.
The suites house medical consulting rooms, fitness assessment laboratories, a boutique wellness centre and the Wesley Weight Management Clinic to provide thorough, efficient and convenient health screening.
Addressing 90 Wesley Corporate Health guests and staff at the suites' official opening, Premier Bligh lauded Wesley Corporate Health's new facilities as world class and commended its preventative health programs as visionary in light of Queensland's Q2 Health Goals,
"Queensland's health statistics are grim and require urgent action. We have the highest rates of death from skin cancer and the second highest from heart disease and stroke in the nation. And the burden of preventable chronic disease in Queensland is predicted to rise by more than 20% between 2006 and 2016.
"In my Government's Q2 goals we set an ambitious target: to reduce levels of obesity, smoking and drinking in Queensland by a third. I want Queenslanders to be Australia's healthiest people by the year 2020.
"Queensland businesses can help to achieve these health goals by investing in the power of prevention. An investment in the health of their staff is an investment in the health of their business."
